Castoro Cellars 2006 Muscat Canelli Paso Robles
Castoro Cellars was founded by the husband and wife team of Niels and Bimmer Udsen with a warm and welcoming style. The winery was named after the Italian translation of Niels’ long-time nickname, “Beaver,” prompting the motto “Dam Fine Wine.” From the wine cellar to the tasting room, all who contribute to Castoro wines hold strongly to the belief that high quality wines should be accessible to all consumers.
Picked up this bottle of Muscat Canelli at Trader Joe's. Very fragrant with lots of Peach and Apricot aromas. Some hint of apple and citrus. The taste unfortunately is not very well balanced. After the initial sweet peach and apple taste is followed by rubber alcohol and a bitter after taste. But for 5.95 it is not a bad sweet wine.

ach...marius, quatsch. rubbery alochol flavor? not bad for $5.95? please, dont insult me. this bottle was better the second day, but i wouldnt drink it.
and no, it isnt because i have issues with the winery, this wine was not good. there are so many good and great wines, why settle?
my issue with castoro? first, i am a central coast girl, raised in cayucos and morro bay and i want to love everything central coast, however, i dont, i am a tough critic. the central coast produces some outstanding wines, it also produces some absolute rubbish. anyway, my issue with castoro is they dont produce good wines and i think their slogan "damn fine wines" is really tacky. wine drinkers neednt and shouldnt be snooty, but they also neednt be insulting. i am not big on cutesy clever.
on that note, i am also emberrased by the slogan of paso robles, "darn near paradise," who came up with that and, what were they drinking when they did?
paso has some nice things to visit, and some great wines to drink but come on, paradise?
Castoro has been making some terrific wines and I disagree with this central coast girl who does not know wines at all
